#1

Core PCE inflation cooled to 3.0% in August, below consensus

Core prices rose less than forecast in August, running three tenths of a point under the year-over-year consensus, with headline inflation also soft and consumer spending strong. The rate regime sits in the top band and spreads its capital more thinly than any other narrative carrying a story tonight, with trading activity in its proxy flat on the week. A softer target measure that failed to pull long yields down is a demand story rather than a policy one, and Friday's payrolls settle which.

#2

Private payrolls added 90,000 in September, well above consensus

Private employers added 90,000 jobs in September on the ADP estimate, well above a consensus near 68,000, after a revised August of 36,000. The rate regime holds the third level of the week and the refinancing cycle sits in the middle of the board, the latter with nearly half its capital in one broad property product. A hiring rebound measured by a private estimate rather than the payroll survey leaves the question open, and Friday's official count is what closes it.

Second-quarter growth was revised up 0.7 points to 2.2%

The third estimate revised second-quarter growth up by seven tenths of a point, with the upgrade spread across business investment, consumer spending and government, and the first quarter marked up too. The rate regime sits high on the board while the compute narrative sits just above it, and the data-center buildout is named in the revision itself. A quarter already closed being marked up that far is a measurement story about how fast the buildout is being captured, and the next vintage tests it.

Crude stocks built 922,000 barrels against an expected draw

Commercial crude stocks built by 922,000 barrels to 427.3m in the week to September 25, against a poll of analysts looking for a draw, as refinery runs fell and products drew down. Geopolitical supply sits in the middle band, keeps close to half its capital in one broad energy product, and saw trading activity in that proxy thinner than a week ago. A build arriving the day after the reserve offer adds barrels to a market already being supplied from the stockpile, and next week's report is the next reading.

OpenAI shipped a cheaper model and always-on agents at DevDay

At its developer conference OpenAI shipped GPT-6.1 Sol at a fifth of the prior model's token prices, alongside always-on agents called Dots and a public beta of its agents interface. The productivity handoff carries the highest attention level on the board and keeps most of its capital in two software and security products, with trading activity thinner than a week ago. A cheaper model and a persistent agent arriving days after a safety halt move the question from capability to unit cost, and enterprise adoption resolves it.

Micron beat on revenue and earnings and guided higher again

Micron reported record fourth-quarter revenue of $54.23bn and $33.42 a share, both above the consensus recorded ahead of the print, and guided first-quarter revenue to a range of $60bn to $63bn. The AI compute core holds the second level on the board, its capital held mostly in two broad technology products, with trading activity far heavier than a week ago. A beat on a number analysts could not agree on, followed by guidance above the quarter just reported, moves the memory question from price to capacity.

Nine filed ETFs would make GPU rental prices a traded asset

Corgi ETF Trust filed for six funds tracking the hourly rental price of named Nvidia chips and GraniteShares has three compute-futures funds in registration, nine in all, with no tickers or fees disclosed. The AI compute core is the widest narrative with a story tonight and the most concentrated of the large ones, two broad technology products holding half its capital between them. Turning rented compute into a futures-and-collateral wrapper is the structure that built the oil and bitcoin funds, and effectiveness settles whether it reaches a ticker.
