Four AI compute and power ETFs listed in a single week

The week to Thursday brought 24 US ETF listings, 4 of them aimed at the compute buildout: xETFs AI Bottlenecks, iShares Future AI Beneficiaries, REX AI Chipmaking and Grayscale AI Compute. The AI compute core sits at the top of the board and its capital is concentrated, with two broad technology products holding half of it. None is in the scored universe yet, so the test is whether a new entrant takes share from the incumbent baskets or merely adds to the count.

Houthi missiles hit Saudi Arabia and Brent settled above $106

Iran-allied Houthi forces fired a barrage of missiles at Saudi Arabia on Thursday, taking Brent to a session high of $108.23 before it settled at $106.60 and West Texas Intermediate at $94.61. Geopolitical supply sits mid-board and is heavily concentrated, one broad energy product holding close to half its capital. A strike on the producer rather than on the strait adds a supply risk the reopening talks do not address, and the terms of any phased deal are what settle which the barrel is pricing.

Pure Storage rose sharply after raising its multi-year outlook

Pure Storage rose sharply on Thursday after raising its multi-year outlook, the largest single-name gain in the compute complex on a session when Oracle and Nvidia both fell. The AI compute core sits at the top of the board and its capital is concentrated in two broad technology products. Storage is the part of the buildout bought after the accelerators are installed, so a raised multi-year outlook is a statement about the installed base, and the next set of results is what tests it.

Oracle sent a force majeure notice on its New Mexico Stargate campus

Oracle sent a force majeure notice to a Blue Owl unit over power delays at Project Jupiter, the New Mexico campus behind $18bn of bank loans and part of the Stargate program with OpenAI. The power constraint sits in the upper half of the board, its capital concentrated in a broad utilities product and a grid infrastructure fund. A contractual notice reads the constraint harder than commentary does, because it moves the delay onto a payment schedule, and the campus's 2028 date is what resolves it.

Protected-outcome and target-maturity income ETFs led the week's listings

The week's other listings were income and defined-outcome structures: VistaShares Shield funds on the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100, a VegaShares autocallable income fund, and target-maturity bond funds from State Street and Northern Trust. The income overlay is the largest narrative in the system by fund count and the least concentrated, its top three holding about a third of the capital. A narrative that broad absorbs new products without a shelf fight, and the distribution rates these carry are what decide whether they hold assets.

The Kansas City Fed factory index rose to 14, a third straight gain

The Kansas City Fed's manufacturing index read 14 in September against 10 in August and 9 in July, with durable and nondurable activity both higher on plastics, rubber and furniture products. The reshoring trade sits in the lower half of the board and its capital is moderately spread across infrastructure and materials products. A third straight regional gain argues the factory recovery is broader than one district, and the durable goods orders due before Friday's open are the hard reading that confirms or contradicts it.
