Eight things the Wednesday session has to price

For session: Wed Oct 21, 2026
The board, all 22 narratives: 4 HOT, 15 WARM, 3 QUIET
Lead story: refinancing cycle
25QUIET below 41.2HOT from 57.360
Housing starts dropped to a 1.221m annual rate in September against about 1.30m expected, while total permits held near 1.400m and single-family permits fell to 845,000. The refinancing cycle ranks twelfth on attention, in the warm band, and its ETFs were among the three strongest of 22 in price on Tuesday. Permits holding while starts fall leaves approved projects waiting on financing, so the gap closes only if borrowing costs ease from here.

SpaceX reported third-quarter revenue of $14.6bn after Tuesday's close against the $12.94bn recorded beforehand and earnings of $0.35 a share against $0.16, with its Super Intelligence segment at $7.6bn ahead of connectivity at $5.2bn. The orbital economy sits sixth on attention, and its ETFs were the weakest of 22 in price before the release. With compute now the larger business, ETFs bought as space exposure carry an AI capacity operator, and $16.4bn of quarterly compute spending deepens that mix.

Super Micro said after Tuesday's close that preliminary September-quarter revenue came to $18.5bn to $19.5bn, against its own guidance of $14.5bn to $15.5bn and a consensus near $15bn, with gross margin also above its earlier range. The AI compute core ranks third on attention, in the hot band, though its ETFs lagged most narratives in price on the day. Revenue running this far ahead on thin server margins puts volume rather than pricing at the center of the full report on November 3.

Netflix earned $0.87 a share in the third quarter against the $0.82 recorded beforehand on about $12.9bn of revenue, then guided fourth-quarter earnings to $0.67 against about $0.73 and cut its full-year free cash flow target to about $12bn. The productivity handoff ranks fourth on attention, and by capital it sits mostly in CIBR and IGV rather than in media. A softer consumer platform outlook therefore reaches this narrative only at its edge, through internet ETFs such as FDN.

Intuitive Surgical earned $3.00 a share on an adjusted basis against the $2.54 recorded beforehand on $3.05bn of revenue, while a $450m charge to settle antitrust class actions cut GAAP earnings to $1.49 and the shares fell after hours. The biology trade ranks seventeenth on attention, yet its ETFs led all 22 in price on Tuesday, with XLV the largest by capital. Procedure guidance held its existing range, which puts the reaction on legal cost and growth pace rather than on demand for the systems.

Capital One earned $6.69 a share on an adjusted basis after Tuesday's close, $1.19 above consensus, on $16.3bn of revenue, as its provision eased to $2.9bn against $3.1bn of net charge-offs and it released $225m of reserves. The credit signal ranks last of 22 on attention, in the quiet band, and no single ETF holds more than a small slice of its capital. A reserve release at a major card lender signals losses running below what it set aside, a reading that lasts only while charge-offs stay contained.

Salesforce agreed on Tuesday to acquire customer engagement platform Braze for $47.50 a share in cash, an enterprise value of about $5.66bn, with closing expected in its fiscal 2028 and no change to its current-year guidance. Two ETFs, CIBR and IGV, carry more than half of the productivity handoff's capital, so software consolidation lands mostly inside those two. Paying cash for engagement data to feed its agent platform shows Salesforce choosing to buy that layer rather than build it, a read-across for how other mid-sized application vendors are priced.

Defiance launched the AI Infrastructure Bond ETF, AIBN, on NYSE Arca on Tuesday at 41 basis points a year, tracking an index that gives Amazon, Microsoft, Alphabet and Meta equal fixed weights summing to half and caps every other issuer, SpaceX and CoreWeave among them. By capital VGT and XLK lead the AI compute core, and AIBN is not yet in the scored universe. A bond wrapper lets the narrative be held through issuer credit rather than equity, with returns bounded by coupons rather than by growth.
