Eight things the Thursday session has to price

For session: Thu Oct 22, 2026
The board, all 22 narratives: 4 HOT, 15 WARM, 3 QUIET
Lead story: Onchain infrastructure

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency issued its final GENIUS Act rule on Wednesday, requiring issuers to hold reserves at least equal to coins outstanding and to meet redemptions within two business days, effective January 18, 2027. Onchain infrastructure ranks first on attention, in the hot band, and its ETFs posted the third-best price gain of the session. Dropping the proposed presumption against affiliate rewards while keeping the ban on yield for holding leaves distribution deals, not reserves, as the open question for stablecoin economics.

The Treasury sold $13bn of 20-year bonds on Wednesday at the highest auction yield since the tenor was reintroduced in 2020, tailing the when-issued level by 0.9 basis points, with bid-to-cover at 2.73 and indirect bidding below its recent average. Second on attention, the rate regime had ETFs that ended flat in price on a day when 20 of 22 narratives gained. A tail at a record yield shows buyers still asking more to hold long duration, a cost that reaches every ETF carrying it.

UK Maritime Trade Operations reported a tanker struck by an unidentified projectile about 11 nautical miles west of Bukha, Oman, early Wednesday, with the fire since put out, after a second tanker was hit southeast of Al Faw, Iraq, on Tuesday evening. Geopolitical supply is eighth on attention, in the warm band, and its ETFs rose only slightly in price. Two confirmed strikes on separate waters shift the risk from the strait alone to the wider Gulf, and attribution is what would change how passage is priced.

Meta reported third-quarter revenue of $64.6bn after Wednesday's close against about $63.3bn expected, took a $9.89bn legal charge, and narrowed 2026 capital spending to $135bn to $145bn from $130bn to $145bn, guiding fourth-quarter revenue to $73bn to $76bn. Attention ranks the AI compute core third, in the hot band, and its ETFs climbed solidly in price on Wednesday, before these results arrived after the close. Raising the floor while next year's budget is still being set anchors hyperscaler demand for compute through year end and leaves 2027 the open variable.

Lam Research reported September-quarter revenue of $8.22bn against $8.13bn expected and earnings of $2.20 a share against $2.18, then guided the December quarter to $8.60bn, give or take $400m, against $8.54bn, and its shares fell in late trading. That report landed after a session in which the narrative's ETFs had already moved higher in price. Selling into a beat after a long run puts the weight on the width of the guidance range rather than its midpoint.

IBM earned $2.95 a share on an operating basis against about $2.87 expected, on revenue of $17.1bn with software at $7.8bn, and now expects free cash flow to grow by more than $1bn this year. The productivity handoff, fourth on attention, was a top-five narrative for price on Wednesday, ahead of the report. Faster software sales at a mature vendor suggest enterprise AI budgets reaching beyond the hyperscalers, a reading that needs the smaller application vendors to repeat it.

Tesla earned $0.48 a share on an adjusted basis against the $0.45 recorded beforehand, on revenue of $28.05bn against $28.06bn, as free cash flow reached $1.53bn and energy storage deployments came to 13.7 GWh. The physical AI layer sits fifteenth on attention, and its ETFs gained modestly in price, ninth of 22 on the day. With no numeric outlook given, autonomy and robot timelines rather than vehicle margins remain the link between this company and the narrative.

Allspring listed ETF share classes of its Short-Term High Income, Strategic Municipal Bond and High Yield Municipal Bond funds on Nasdaq on Wednesday, as AHIC, ASTM and AHYM, with two equity funds to follow later this year. Last on attention and in the quiet band, the credit signal had ETFs that barely moved in price while most narratives rose. A share class trades an existing portfolio, so these listings add an exchange wrapper to credit already managed rather than new capacity, and none is yet in the scored universe.
