Eight things the Tuesday session has to price

For session: Tue Oct 20, 2026
The board, all 22 narratives: 4 HOT, 15 WARM, 3 QUIET
Lead story: refinancing cycle
25QUIET below 41.2HOT from 57.360
The NAHB index fell three points to 29 on Monday, below the 31 economists polled by Reuters expected, as the share of builders cutting prices rose to its highest since at least 2020. The refinancing cycle holds twelfth on attention, in the warm band, and its ETFs were the second weakest of 22 in price. Price cuts already this widespread leave any recovery in builder sentiment hanging on mortgage rates easing rather than on buyers returning at today's levels.

China's economy grew faster than forecast in the third quarter on strong exports, and September retail sales and industrial output both beat estimates while fixed-asset investment kept contracting. Dollar displacement sits nineteenth on attention and its ETFs were little changed in price, with its capital spread across many ETFs and VEA the largest. Growth led by exports rather than investment keeps China's surplus pointed outward, so the case for ex-US allocation turns on whether domestic demand follows.

RTX and GE Aerospace beat earnings estimates before Tuesday's open and both raised full-year guidance, RTX on a $340bn backlog, while Northrop beat on earnings and held its revenue outlook. The defense trade ranks eleventh on attention, and by capital XLI and ITA together hold more than half of it. Part of the RTX beat came from tariff cost recovery, so the calls have to separate operating demand from refunds before the raise can be read as volume.

Bitdeer said on Monday that its AI cloud revenue backlog reached about $2.9bn, from $0.9bn in August, on agreements for 127 megawatts at two Malaysian sites and offtake worth over $1.7bn at a third. Onchain infrastructure leads the board on attention, in the hot band, yet its ETFs fell in price and BSOL, a single-asset fund, is its largest by capital. Selling capacity to compute buyers ties part of the narrative to AI demand, a revenue line its single-asset ETFs do not hold.

General Motors reported adjusted earnings of $3.70 a share against a $3.61 consensus on $50.0bn of revenue, lifted its full-year automotive free cash flow outlook by $2bn and authorized a new $20bn repurchase. The trade-war tax ranks fourteenth on attention while its ETFs were the second strongest of 22 in price on Monday, and XLY alone carries more than half its capital. A profit range narrowed around the same midpoint beside a sharply higher cash forecast leaves open whether tariff costs are being absorbed or simply deferred.

Cleveland-Cliffs earned $0.28 a share on an adjusted basis against $0.21 expected and said 2027 adjusted EBITDA should exceed $4bn, while Steel Dynamics earned $5.26, below the range it set in September, on lower realized prices. The reshoring trade sits twentieth on attention, in the quiet band, and its capital is spread thin with PAVE the largest ETF. Two mills reading the same protected market in opposite directions makes steel pricing, not volume, the variable to watch at the next contract reset.

Silence Therapeutics agreed on Monday to be acquired by Merck KGaA for $20 per ADS in cash, about $1.3bn, and its shares more than doubled, with closing expected in early 2027. The biology trade ranks seventeenth on attention and its ETFs were flat in price, while XLV holds the largest share of its capital, so a small-cap deal barely registers where the money sits. A premium this size for an RNA-silencing pipeline marks private value well above public pricing, and further bids for early-stage platforms would widen that gap.

From the ETF business
iShares filed on Monday for the Bitcoin Managed Protection ETF, PBIT, which holds three monthly tranches of IBIT call spreads that set a maximum loss on each while capping gains, with the fee not yet set. Crypto conviction ranks fifth on attention, IBIT already holds close to half of its capital, and PBIT is not yet in the scored universe. A floored wrapper on the dominant fund widens the product range without widening the capital base, since any demand it draws routes back to the same holding.
