Eight things the Thursday session has to price

For session: Thu Oct 15, 2026

The Bureau of Labor Statistics said on Wednesday that core consumer prices rose a tenth faster than forecast in September, while the headline annual rate also came in a tenth above forecasts. The rate regime ranks third on attention, in the hot band; in price, its ETFs edged higher on Wednesday, one of only two narratives to gain. A core miss two weeks before the October meeting makes the priced hike harder to fade, and Thursday's producer prices could confirm it or blunt it.

Iran's Revolutionary Guards said on Wednesday that a ship carrying more than 2,500 containers sank on a naval mine south of the strait, a day after Tehran said it had deployed naval units east of it; the ship has not been named. Geopolitical supply is sixth on attention, and the price of its ETFs barely moved on a day most narratives lost ground. A mine moves the hazard from single ships to the route itself, though until an owner or insurer confirms the sinking it remains one side's account.

The Federal Reserve's Beige Book, published on Wednesday from reports gathered by October 5, said higher oil prices affected all 12 districts, price growth picked up in 4 and 3 called it robust, while 9 reported growth and 3 no change. By capital the rate regime is among the most widely spread narratives, with no single bond ETF carrying a large share of it. Anecdote that matches the core print narrows the case for waiting until December.

ASML reported third-quarter net sales of €11.7bn on Wednesday with earnings ahead of consensus, and said planned supply for 2027 and 2028 will not fully meet customer demand. Attention puts the AI compute core joint fourth, level with crypto conviction, yet its ETFs were among the three biggest price decliners of the session. A supplier short of capacity sits against a chip selloff five sessions long, and TSMC's order commentary on Thursday is the next read on it.

CoreWeave shares fell sharply on Wednesday after the yield on its $1.25bn of unsecured bonds due 2032 closed at a record on Tuesday; it carried about $52bn of debt and lease obligations at the end of June. The AI compute core's capital sits mostly in two broad technology ETFs, VGT and XLK, neither of them built around compute renters. A bond market pricing the most levered compute renter near distressed levels moves the buildout's credit question onto its equity, and any new financing would show what that capital costs.

The Department of War said on Tuesday that the Air Force awarded Raytheon a sole-source contract with an $8bn ceiling to modernize, restart production of and study strategic communications terminals run by its Nuclear Weapons Center, with work through October 2036. Twelfth and mid-table on attention, the defense trade saw its ETFs lose less in price than most narratives on Wednesday. A decade-long sole-source ceiling adds to the nuclear modernization backlog the narrative measures, though only task orders turn a ceiling into revenue.

GlobalFoundries said on Wednesday it was selected to operate two new 300mm fabs at Malta, New York, funded with up to $21bn from Japan under the US-Japan trade and investment agreement, with the Commerce Department taking a small equity stake. Second from the foot of the attention table, the reshoring trade had ETFs that fell in price roughly in line with the market. Foreign capital with a US operator gives the narrative a dated commitment rather than a pledge, with groundbreaking the first date to hold it to.

Bank of America said on Wednesday that third-quarter net income fell to $6.9bn, or $0.91 a share, after a $1.2bn charge for civil money penalties under OCC and FinCEN consent orders over its anti-money laundering and sanctions compliance, or $1.08 excluding it. The credit signal ranks last on attention, in the quiet band, though its ETFs were the fourth best performers in price on a falling day. Lower net charge-offs leave the credit book intact, so the open question is the remediation cost, not loan losses.
